Students will be given 1-2 math homework assignments each week to practice their skills.
Parents are asked to sign off on the planner each evening after homework is completed.

Classroom Instruction and Learning:
Math: Students will complete Chapter 10's the metric and standard measurement systems. They will be assessed on these math concepts on Wednesday. We have expanded learning and practice with Dimensions math workbooks that will be assigned for homework so that students can reinforce their understanding. Please check your students planner for math assignments throughout the semester.
Science: Students will begin a study on different types of contact or direct forces and will understand how they are measured. They will conduct a lab experiment using pulleys to see how this movement affect objects.
Language Arts: Students will be continuing grammar and writing concepts that expand into multiple paragraph essays.
Reading: Students will continue reading the novel "Treasure Island" and will learn about how author Robert Louis Stevenson uses persuasion as a literary technique. They will continue their silent reading time with Accerlated Reader and take a comprehension test upon completion of each of their AR books. Please encourage your child to read their AR books. Ask them to verbally summarize to you what they have read emphasizing the main idea. This will develop better comprehension skills and make them better readers.
History: Students will understand 17th century Europe and its expansion into a different era for the Catholic Church. They will discuss this readinng in socratic seminar form with their table groups.
