September 7th, 2020: By now everyone should have received an email regarding Flipgrid. Students should have accessed their class's Flipgrid and posted a "hello" video by this Friday.
August 31st, 2020: Holy Trinity Catholic High School has graciously and enthusiastically invited the St. Mary's Junior High Band to play pep tunes for the home games being played at Matous Field on the Holy Trinity campus. Dates and times for the games can be found on the Band Calendar and are subject to change, so please check back frequently just in case. This opportunity is open to all 7th & 8th grade band students, and 6th grade students by audition only. Dress code will be Spirit wear and outerwear that is appropriate for the weather (i.e. jackets, raincoats, etc.)
These events are not required, but students are highly encouraged to take part in as many as they are able. They are an excellent opportunity to support our sister school as well as to give our students the chance to perform for their parents and peers.
Please contact Mr. Knoke with any questions.
Band Uniform
The band uniform will consist of the St. Mary’s Catholic School polo shirt, Khaki pants, and their nice school uniform shoes. The uniform will be for both boys and girls. Skirts will not be allowed to be worn as part of the band uniform. This is due to the concern for proper length, seating on stage, and the position of the instrument.
Practice
Students Should Be Practicing: Embouchure, air support, good posture, good hand and instrument positions, long tones, lines assigned from the book, and any piece of music that I have handed out.
Parents: Practice is important for continued musical growth. Thank you for encouraging your child to practice.
