I begin my letter with my expression of thanks to you for all you have done to make our month of distance learning possible. We are partners in your child’s education and it has never been as prominent as this past month. God bless you for your belief and support.
Progress Reports, which were to have been available today, have been postponed until next Friday. We have made this decision based on the fact that some of our students have not been able to complete all assignments. Those missing assignments, of course, are affecting the grades. Because the teachers and I understand that circumstances at home are beyond our control, we want students to have every chance to be successful and show mastery of the concepts taught.
One specific subject showing many missing assignments is Spanish in grades 1-5. Realizing that this may be a lack of parent’s ability to help or the fact that parents are focusing on core subjects, Spanish in grades 1-5 will be graded as pass-fail for the 4th quarter. Please do the best that you can to complete the assignments you can. Effort is what matters.
This week was our first implementation of our Friday ‘catch-up” day so what a perfect day to get to those missing assignments :). Your child’s teacher will be sending a list of work needed to be completed. Please contact your child’s teacher if you have questions.
