Cheer Parents I am extending a warm welcome to all of you and the girls on our 2016-2017 school year. We are all hoping for a great fun cheer year! In order to be able to give the girls a fun and fulfilling experience some assistance from parents is required. With all honesty I prayed and prayed about taking the cheer coach position and I felt called to do it. The program would have probably closed down if no one would have volunteered to be the coach. I did not want to let that happen to the girls, as they all seem to have so much fun being in the team. Our life consists of three children one in middle school, a kindergarten, and a wonderful all over the place toddler. On top of our wonderful bundles of joy the husband and I are fulltime grad students and he also works. We run on a very tight schedule trying to fit other activities throughout the day for our children. I know that this is the situation in majority of the homes. It would be greatly appreciated if any of you could assist with anything on the list. Any new ideas for the team are welcomed as I am embarking on something new to me. Please be patient with me as I get the hang of things and any feedback is greatly appreciated.
New member sign ups, camp sign ups and Uniform order Mom: This position will begin immediately after Spring Break as we take sign ups in late April early May AND we usually have uniform fitting scheduled for May and camp always is in August. This person will be responsible for getting all info out to parents, being present at fitting and taking all signups, forms and monies for camp and uniforms.
Fundraiser Mom: Will also need this person to begin helping after Spring Break. We have our clinic coming up as well as possibly selling of May Crowning flowers. This person will be in charge of getting all info out for fundraisers and organizing and taking monies. We typically have 5 fundraisers throughout the year and these are pretty simple. Selling the “uniform approved” bows at the beginning of the school year, selling flowers for Our Lady of Guadalupe, Selling Valentine stuff, selling flowers for May Crowning and the Spring Cheer Clinic for the elementary students. Remember the fundraisers are only worked on for a few days and the day of the fundraiser. It does not typically require too much of a person’s time.
Practice and Communication Mom: This person will need to be able to commit to being at all practices throughout the year. Even if I am present, we need another EIM certified mom present for safety, but also so this person is up to speed and can run practice if I or the other coach cannot be there. This person should also be able to send reminder emails, etc.. since this person will be at practices and will know what is going on. I was informed yesterday that another parent that is EIM has to be present at all times.
CAMP MOM : This really should be the same mom as practice mom if at all possible! Camp is really the beginning of their practices for the season and gets the girls off to a great start!!
St. Mary’s Catholic School
Rules and Regulations
Cheerleaders will be expected to follow the same guidelines as outlined for all other sports at St. Mary’s which includes keeping an acceptable grade point average.
The Cheer Season will begin in the Fall with the beginning of school and will run thru the Spring. We will not be adding cheerleaders mid season.Anyone who wishes to join the team needs to do so by August 1st.Accommodations will be made for girls who choose to play other sports but all team members are required to attend all practices year round. This will help in building a cohesive TEAM!Also, knowing the cheers and sidelines is important in order to fully participate at games, pep rallies, etc…Lastly, the girls will be stunting again this year and will have to “qualify” on stunts during practices before they are allowed to perform the stunts at an event. This is for obvious safety reasons for all team members!
All team members will be required to attend and/or perform at all games, pep rallies and any other scheduled events that come up.Again, accommodations will be made through the cheer coach for girls participating in other sports.
All returning St. Mary’s students that wish to cheer in the upcoming school year are required to attend our scheduled summer camp. The cost is $179. Your child needs to have a physical from her family doctor to participate

Cheerleaders must be in full uniform in order to participate at events. This includes cheer skirt, cheer top, midriff (on certain occasions), briefs, white ankle socks, white cheer shoes and pom pons.
Practice attire is school appropriate athletic wear.Cheer shoes are also a must and student will not be allowed to participate in stunting and certain other activities without them for their own safety, and the safety of others.NO JEWELRY is to be worn during practice and hair is to be pulled back neatly out of face.
Game attire will be full dress uniform which includes shell top, skirt, midriff (on occasion) briefs, white ankle socks, cheer shoes and pom pons.Again, without proper attire, participation may be limited due to safety concerns.NO JEWELRY is to be worn during games and hair is to be pulled back neatly out of face.
Each team member will be responsible for cleaning and maintenance of the uniform.Uniforms require machine washing and drying.DO NOT DRY CLEAN.Uniforms will be returned at the end of the year and need to be clean and in good condition. Please do not make alterations to dress uniform without permission from coach!!
