United States History
Quarter 4 Project
Mrs. Martin
The Civil War
In this project students will be creating a finalized product of a short video summarizing and teaching the viewer about his/her research over the civil war. In this project the students will be completing a three phase process. Each phase will be individually graded for fairness in project based learning. The rubrics will be available later this week. The students will be assigned their topic of study on Monday.
Phase One Due April 6, 2018
Students will complete research over their topic using three scholarly sources. Each source must have a source sheet, as well as a one paragraph summary.
When researching the student needs to focus on their topic. For example: A student was assigned Abraham Lincoln they would look at his leadership during the Civil War. What was he responsible for as the president during this time? As the commander of the Union military? We will be going over an example during class 3/26.
Phase one will be counted as three participation grades, three daily grades, and one test grade. In order to receive the test grade the research packet must be completed in its entirety. All three source sheets and the three written summaries. The summaries must be written using proper academic format (meaning proper grammar, no plagiarism, and give an accurate overview of the students source). Plagiarism will be an automatic zero with no opportunity to make up the grades. This project encompasses the entire fourth quarter. It is imperative that you as the student takes this seriously.
Participation grades will come from being on task during class while researching for the project. The daily grades will come from each source sheet. The test grade will come from a combination of all parts of phase one.
The topics are assigned as following:
