What Makes the Seasons? Read What Makes The Seasons? Introduce vocabulary: autumn; flurries; sprinkling. Make four quadrants on oak tag and label each one with a season. Students will place Seasonal Nature Cutouts in the correct quadrant, and post on a bulletin board. Talk about safety during each season; Students will attach Leaf Cutouts to streamers and pretend to be falling leaves as they dance with the streamers; Invite children to look at the bulletin board and say a word that rhymes with one of the pictures. |

Curiosity and Spring Rain Reread What Makes the Seasons? Focus on what happens in spring. Students will discuss why it might rain so much in spring. Perform an experiment using cotton balls and water. Explain that clouds, like cotton balls, get heavier with water during spring. Students will create cloud pictures, and depict seasons by adding different elements, then explain their pictures; Children observe what happens when you put a puddle of water on a foam tray. Students will identify the initial sound in /w/ words. |

Students will work in pairs with magnifiers to take a closer look at seasonal objects; Identify /w/ words on the chart; Students will respond to questions about the seasons or senses. |
