RELIGION: (TEKS: 03.03.03 - 04, 03.03.04, 03.04.08 - 09, 03.05.01 - 09, 03.06.06, 03.07.02, 03.07.04, 03.07.06 - 07, and 03.09.02.)
Monday: Students will learn about what the Apostles did after Pentecost.
Tuesday: Students will learn about the mission of the Apostles.
Wednesday: Students will learn how Jesus chose Peter and prepared him to be the first Pope.
Thursday: Students will utilize their Mass Journals in a writing exercise that covers the scripture readings and homily from Mass.
Friday: Students will participate in Stations of the Cross.
ELA:
Monday:.Students will read, identify spelling patterns, definitions and write 10 words. Additionally, students will show how to write sentences that demonstrate an understanding of word meaning.
Tuesday: Students will learn what "Negative" in grammar is used for. Additionally, students will learn to identify no, not, nothing, none, never, nowhere, and nobody as Negatives.
Wednesday: Students will apply cursive while learning to write uppercase (capital) cursive letters O and P and apply writing sentences in cursive utilizing all lowercase and learned uppercase letters.
Thursday: Students will learn what Comparative and Superlative Adjectives are and be able to identify them as words that compare two persons, places, or things (Comparative) and words that compare more than two persons, places, or things (Superlative).
Friday:.Students will successfully complete the weekly spelling/vocabulary test.
MATH:
*Homework is assigned, if not completed in class. See SMCS website (Classrooms/Third Grade/Homework) for daily homework.
Monday: Students will complete a review on fractions. Workbooks will be utilized to apply learned skills about fractions of a whole, fractions displayed on a number line, comparing fractions with like denominators, and comparing fractions with like numerators.
Tuesday:.Students will learn how to identify Equivalent Fractions through shapes, number lines, and graphs.
Wednesday: Students will continue their studies on Equivalent Fractions in preparation for simplifying fractions strategies.
Thursday: Students will learn to utilize multiplication and division toward Simplifying Fractions strategies.
Friday: Students will learn to compare fractions and order them from least to greatest.
HISTORY: (TEKS: ELA TEKS: 3.5, 3.6 A - I, 3.7 A -G, 3.8 A - D, 3.9 A - F.)
Monday: Students will learn about Medieval literature (poets, authors, annals and hagiographies).
Tuesday: Students will learn about the story of Beowulf, Chansons de geste, and the Song of Roland.
Wednesday: Students will learn about Medieval tales of romance (Sir Gawain and the Green Knight) and understand that these tales were not only about love but also about heroism and courage.
Thursday: Students will learn what a "Troubadour" is and be able to describe one as a wandering poet. Additionally, students will be introduced to two famous troubadours: Dante Alighieri (Divine Comedy) and Geoffrey Chaucer (The Canterbury Tales).
Friday: Students will participate in a review of Chp. 19 in preparation for an upcoming test.
SCIENCE:
Wednesday:.Students will learn about Bonding and how elements bond together. Additionally, students will understand what Covalent Bonding and Covalent Substances are.
Thursday: Students will participate in a lab experiment that displays "Bonding of Elements" toward understanding how elements bond together and increase volume.
